Actress Elham Shaheen thanked everyone who supported her in the recent attack she was subjected to after her latest statements.
Ilham posted a video clip on her Instagram account, and commented: “Thank you to the sweet people for their sweet words like them.. Thank you to the pure, honest hearts, and the open, enlightened minds.”
She continued: “Thank you to the people who have morals and humanity. The Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, said, ‘I was sent to perfect good morals.’ Religion is morals first, then rituals complete it.”
She continued: “Religion taught us not to backbite each other. God created religions for the sake of goodness and love. So that we help each other, fear for each other, and love each other. All heavenly messages call for love.”
She added: “Despite the trivial campaigns that religious merchants launch against me every now and then… I will continue to love life, love art, love my country, and love goodness for all people everywhere in the world… God is love… I wish a beautiful day to all my loved ones and even my enemies.”
Elham Shaheen caused controversy after her recent statements in which she said: “I worked with a director, he was a very normal man, then suddenly he became very religious, every time he called to prayer he would leave the filming and the camera was on and leave the actors, and he would even take all the workers with him and go down to pray.”
She added, criticizing the director’s position: “The first scene is over and you are in your room praying, but the whole studio is closed. We have never seen that before… not stopping work because of prayer time.”
