Barcelona’s incredible 7-0 win over Valladolid was not only the end of a perfect first month for Hansi Flick in charge of the Blaugrana or one of their most dominant victories in recent history. It was also a nice omen for what could come at the end of the 2024-25 The League campaign.

According to the one and only MisterChip, in the last 11 seasons in which Barça won their first four league games, in nine they ended up winning the title. The only two occasions in which their perfect start didn’t result in a league trophy were in 1972-73 and 2013-14, when Atlético Madrid won both titles and Barça finished as runners-up. Real Madrid haven’t won a league title after a perfect four-game start by Barça since 1961.

The last time Barça won the league after a perfect four-game start was in 2018-19 under Ernesto Valverde, with wins over Alavés, Valladolid, Huesca and Real Sociedad. That perfect start also included a monster win at home (8-2 over Huesca), and the first match without a win that season was the fifth game of the campaign against Girona, who just happen to be Barça’s next opponent this year.

Is it all a coincidence, or are we living in a simulation? We’ll never know, but it sure seems as though Barça have a pretty good chance of winning The League this season.
