Manchester City are back in Premier League action this weekend.

After getting through the first international break of the season, City will be taking on Brentford at the Etihad Stadium for their fourth Premier League match of the campaign.

In their first three league outings, Pep Guardiola’s side have beaten Chelsea, Ipswich Town and West Ham United, scoring nine goals and conceding two in the process.

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s match against Thomas Frank’s side, one pundit and former top-flight star has shared his verdict on how he thinks City’s latest game will pan out for the champions.

Paul Merson drops Man City prediction for Brentford match

In a recent column for Sportskeeda where he previewed and predicted the scores for all of this weekend’s Premier League fixtures, Paul Merson said this about City’s clash with Brentford.

He said: “I’d have to go with Manchester City here, obviously. I think they’ve been phenomenal.

“All things considered, I just can’t see any team beating City at the moment, I look at them every week and I’m like, ‘Who’s really going to stop them over these 38 games?’

“No disrespect to Brentford, they have done well so far. But I’m backing City to win 3-0.”

City will be favourites to beat Brentford

Looking back over the previous league campaign, the Blues beat Brentford home and away with both games coming in February.

By the end of the season, City finished 15 places and 52 points above the Bees in the league table, scoring 40 more goals and conceding 31 fewer than them.

This season has seen Brentford win two and lose one of their three opening games of the campaign, scoring five goals and conceding four in the process.

While City will undoubtedly be the favourites to win this game, it could still prove to be a difficult one for them.
