Musso

Made his Atlético Madrid debut after Jan Oblak was ruled out with digestive issues. The former Atalanta goalkeeper, who only just arrived on loan, was called upon to make a big save from distance on Oihan Sancet a few minutes after the hour before shaking off an apparent rib injury to secure his first clean sheet and victory for the club. 5.5

Llorente

Busy trying to contain Nico Williams (and later Álvaro Djaló) on the right; he won three tackles, made seven recoveries in addition to six clearances. Broke into space occasionally from right wing-back and ended the match with 10 passes into the final third. Hardly lost a duel, winning eight of nine between ground and air. 7

Lino

Was able to threaten around the penalty area a few times and narrowly missed tapping in an Antoine Griezmann lobbed cross to the back post early in the second half. Still, a pretty quiet evening for the Brazilian. 4.5

The Norman

Already building a good understanding with Josema Giménez; the European champion with Spain has brought strength and assurance to Atlético’s back line. He won five of eight duels, made three clearances, and passed with 90 percent accuracy. 6.5

Giménez

Never afraid to throw his body into a tackle or a clearance to help Atlético keep a third consecutive clean sheet. Landed awkwardly on his shoulder in a second-half collision with Reinildo, but soldiered on to finish with seven clearances and 99 percent (!) passing accuracy. 7

Reinildo

Had success opting for simple passes over lofted balls forward and looks to be regaining form following his ACL tear, although he let Iñaki Williams get around him a couple times. Recovered the ball three times with three ground duels won and helped Atlético achieve flexibility between 3- and 4-man formations. 5

Barrios

Barrios’ importance to Atlético only continues to grow, and the 21-year-old is improving rapidly in and out of possession. His defensive work to recover the ball has been especially notable. That said, he did get lucky after Nico Williams’ 46th-minute goal was disallowed, as he let the attacker get in behind with ease. 5.5

Soon

Struggled a bit without the ball but reliable as you like while on it. The 32-year-old spent much of the second half trying to deny Athletic attacks through the middle of the pitch. 4.5

Gallagher

Went for every 50-50 ball that came his way, granting second and third chances in possession. Had a shot bend just wide from the edge of the area toward the end of the first half. 5

Griezmann

The Frenchman showed flashes of magic while on the ball, making the occasional half-chance with his distribution, but was ultimately unsuccessful in helping the team get on the scoresheet. 4.5

Alvarez

The former Manchester City man is still searching for his first goal in LALIGA, though he continues to work hard and his tactical flexibility was important in helping Atlético maintain its 5-4-1 shape in defense. 4

Sørloth

A difference-maker. Pressed up on a tiring Athletic, using his size, strength, and touch to poke the ball past Iñigo Lekue from the home team’s 92nd-minute corner — setting up Ángel Correa’s stoppage-time winner. 7.5

From Paul

Looked for chances to send in crosses and combine with Llorente on the right. 5

Riquelme

Helped out defensively with solid positioning, found little opportunity to break free from Athletic’s swarm on the left flank. 5

Julian Simeon

El Cholo’s son made his second appearance for the club, more than two years after a cameo against Granada in the Metropolitano. Brought pace and fresh legs, tracking back into midfield and defense when necessary. 5

Correa

Time and again, Correa has come into a match and made an instant impact off the bench. Saturday at San Mamés was no different. After replacing Koke in the 88th minute, the attacker broke in behind the Athletic defense, took a touch past Julen Agirrezabala, and finished calmly to steal the three points. 7.5
