The owner of Villa Razzolini Loredan in Asolo where Sammy Basso passed away on Saturday 5 October tells the story of the last moments of the young researcher’s life.

«I received a note from Sammy some time ago. It was written: “Sergio, remember, life is beautiful”. I will keep it among my dearest memories.”. Sergio Dussinformer president of the Bassano restaurateurs group and longtime friend of the Basso familysays i tragic moments of Sammy’s death. «There was a wedding reception underway in our Villa Razzolini restaurant in Asolo, Sammy was among the guests with his family – he explains -. Shortly after midnight we saw the room come alive in an unnatural way: Sammy had felt ill and his friends were trying to revive him. An ambulance was immediately called, but there was nothing that could be done. It was a matter of minutes.”

«He said I can’t breathe» says Dussin, moved. The restaurateur, alerted by his daughter that he was in the villa, arrived shortly after midnight and found himself faced with a scene that deeply affected him: «Mom held Sammy in her arms. I knelt next to her and her father: him he had already flown into the sky. He was a great man, who taught us a lot”

Dussin had known Sammy since he was a child: «He was one of those people who leaves something special in your soul – he comments -. I will never forget it party organized for his 18th birthday and the many charitable initiatives in which he had involved me. He leaves an important legacy and we really won’t forget him.”
