Eminem has retired his infamous alter ego Slim Shady with his latest album, but he’s embracing a new identity: Grandpa.
The rapper revealed that his daughter, Hailie Jade, is pregnant through a heartfelt music video that pays tribute to their relationship. The video, released Thursday, features home videos dating back to 1999 and photos of the father-daughter duo, interwoven with footage from her May wedding. The emotional song “Temporary” serves as the backdrop for this touching compilation.
In one snippet of a recent home video, Hailie hands Eminem a jersey with “Grandpa” emblazoned on the back, bearing the number 1. She also presents ultrasound photos, to which Eminem reacts with visible shock.
Social media influencer Hailie Jade confirmed the news of her pregnancy shortly after the video’s release with an Instagram post captioned, “Mom & dad est. 2025.”
Representatives for Eminem, 51, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The song “Temporary,” featured on Eminem’s latest album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce),” is written as a comforting message to his daughter in the event of his death. “I’m watchin’ you right now, baby girl, I vow/I will protect you, your guardian angel,” Eminem sings on the track, which was released in July.
The “Lose Yourself” artist has consistently expressed a deep affection for his daughter, frequently mentioning her in his songs and composing full tributes such as “Hailie’s Song” and “Mockingbird.”
In the fan-favorite “Mockingbird,” Eminem sings, “What Daddy always tell you? Straighten up, little soldier,” a lyric he references again in “Temporary.”
Hailie Jade is Eminem’s sole biological daughter, whom he shares with his ex-wife Kim Scott. He has also adopted two of Scott’s daughters from previous relationships.
