Sporting Portugal player Eduardo Quaresma was able to fall through the ground in the seventieth minute of the away match against PSV in the Champions League. The defender, who started on the bench but came into the team in the first half, had the chance to score the equalizer. Everyone in the Philips Stadium saw the ball end up in the goal, but Quaresma slipped and therefore did not even get the chance to take a shot.
After an excellent second half, PSV was committed to expanding its lead as quickly as possible. Coach Peter Bosz’s team had more than enough opportunities for the second goal in the first part of the second half. Guus Til received the ball on a silver platter soon after the restart, but saw his effort fly over the Portuguese goal. The biggest chance was for Luuk de Jong. The captain took the ball in a great way and then took it in one go, but hit it completely wrong.
PSV therefore failed to score the second and, as always, the opponent also got one very big chance to score a goal. It was in Eindhoven for Quaresma. After Noa Lang lost the ball in his own half, there was a lot of space behind the Eindhoven defense and substitute Quaresma dived into it. The defender was on his way to the 1-1. The PSV supporters held their breath and many were undoubtedly already anticipating the equalizer. But to their luck, Quaresma slipped and ultimately didn’t get a shot at all.
A few minutes later the score was 1-1. Johan Bakayoko had the opportunity to make PSV 2-0, but he shot wide in front of an almost empty goal. That miss cost the home team dearly, as Daniel Bragança tapped in the equalizer from close range not long afterwards.
