Werder puts pressure on

Dortmund initially withdrew and left the ball to the hosts. Werder repeatedly tried to get behind the black and yellows’ line quickly and in the 11th minute had the best opportunity of the first half. Marvin Ducksch, who played his 100th Bundesliga game, passed to Romano Schmid, who served Njinmah in the middle. The attacker was stopped by Gregor Kobel, and Jens Stage’s follow-up shot went wide of the goal on the right.

BVB then became stronger without creating a lot of chances. Apart from a few set pieces, which Bremen defended well, the opposition penalty area remained harmless. Just before half-time, Julian Brandt got a ball played well into the box, but the international shot wide of the goal (45th minute). The teams went into the dressing rooms goalless.

Schlotterbeck must go down

As in the first half, Werder dominated the opening phase. The Hanseatics started earlier and were able to win several balls in the attacking third. A shot from Njinmah was just deflected by Waldemar Anton for a corner, otherwise Werder would have used the good phase to take the lead (49th).
