Wolves are back in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon after wrapping up some late business in the transfer window.

Gary O’Neil was very busy adding the finishing touches to his Wolves squad as three new players arrived at Molineux, including Sam Johnstone, Brazilian Andre and Carlos Forbs.

Wolves addressed multiple areas this summer but following their 6-2 defeat against Chelsea last weekend, it became clear that defence was a weak point.

O’Neil captured young centre-back Bastien Meupiyou, who could push for a starting place shortly, but he failed to add a genuine Max Kilman replacement to his backline.

The Old Gold did attempt to sign Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah however, the 25-year-old signed for Crystal Palace instead while their pursuit for West Ham’s Nayef Aguerd also failed.

Chris Sutton shares score prediction for Nottingham Forest vs Wolves

In the build-up to Wolves trip to Nottingham Forest, BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton touched on his concerns for O’Neil’s men defensively following the 6-2 defeat at home to Chelsea.

Sutton thinks they’re ‘clearly missing’ captain Kilman, who left to join West Ham for £40 million this summer. The former Aston Villa striker also believes the second-half capitulation at Molineux could impact them against Forest, although that hasn’t been reflected in his score prediction.

Predicting the match to end goalless, Sutton wrote: “This is the Nuno derby. Wolves fell to pieces against Chelsea, I’m slightly concerned about Wolves.

“They were actually pretty comfortable against Southampton, I think they deserved to win that one.

“Wolves fell to pieces, they’re clearly missing Max Kilman who they sold to West Ham. I just wonder what damage that second half will do, the way Chelsea really rolled them over.

“But I think this will be a close one.”

Wolves need to get first win on the board

The uncertainty of the summer transfer window is now over and Wolves fans can look forward to the rest of the season knowing what players they have available.

Of course, some of their players, namely Goncalo Guedes, could still leave for a club in Europe despite the English transfer window shutting.

Nonetheless, Wolves must get their first win on the board sooner rather than later, especially after last weekend’s harrowing loss.

O’Neil’s men have fixtures to come against Newcastle, Aston Villa and Liverpool; Wolves will be the underdog in all three of those matches, so taking three points from Forest would be handy.

If they don’t, the Wanderers could find themselves playing catch up after six games and then there will be added pressure with each match.
