Walid Regragui, coach of the Moroccan national football team, confirmed that he is following Moroccan player Oussama Sahraoui, the striker for the French club Lille who holds Norwegian citizenship, praising his position in choosing to represent the “Atlas Lions” at the expense of Norway.

Regragui said, in response to a question from Hesport during the press conference preceding the Lesotho match scheduled for Monday evening: “As for the Sahrawi player, I have been following him for a while.”

The national coach added: “He chose Morocco over Norway, and he may be with us in the future.. He will play in the Champions League with Lille this season, and it is an opportunity to follow him more.”

The same speaker continued: “What I liked is that he rejected Norway to play with Morocco. Now, everyone wants to play with the national team, unlike the past period when we were making efforts to convince players with dual nationality to do so.”

He concluded: “The Sahrawi could have played for Norway, but he wanted Morocco. I spoke with him and he told me that he is ready to compete for his place with us, and this is a position that is credited to him.”

It is worth noting that the Moroccan national football team will meet the Lesotho team in the second round of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, tomorrow at eight in the evening on the Adrar Stadium in Agadir.
