Algeria Foot – Morocco appears to have passed up former Algerian international Andy Delort and attracted a player from AC Milan.

Wydad Athletic Club de Casablanca continues to strengthen its squad for the 2024-2025 season by signing Senegalese striker M’Baye Niang, a former AC Milan player. After a difficult period last season, the Moroccan club, led by president Hicham Aït Manna and coach Rhulani Mokwena, decided to add a highly experienced player to its squad to aim for the Botola Pro and Throne Cup titles. Niang, 30, visited Casablanca this Saturday and reached an agreement with the red club.

M’Baye Niang, who holds dual Senegalese and French nationality, has an impressive career path, having played for several top European clubs. He notably played for AC Milan, where he made a name for himself, but also for Montpellier, Bordeaux, and Stade de Reims in France, as well as Watford in the English Premier League. His last stint was in Turkey with Adana Demirspor, where he scored 8 goals in 16 games, before playing for Empoli in Italy.

Niang’s arrival, replacing Andy Delort who was said to be close to the Moroccan club, is a major signing for Wydad as they prepare for the domestic season and the 2025 Club World Cup. His attacking experience and technical skills should add great value to the team as they look to regain their dominance in Moroccan football. Niang’s signing also demonstrates Wydad’s desire to return to success after a difficult period.
