Moroccan athlete Aymane El Haddaoui offered Morocco its second gold medal on Saturday by winning the 400m (T 47), breaking the world record in the process, while his compatriot Ayoub Sadni took silver. El Haddaoui completed the 400m in 46.65/100ths, smashing the old record by 3 seconds. Sadni, the reigning Paralympic and world champion, finished in 47.16.

This feat brings Morocco’s medal haul to 12, 2 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze. In addition to El Haddaoui’s, the other gold medal was won by Mouncef Bouja in the 400m (T12).

The silver medals were won by Youssra Karim in the discus throw (F41), Fatima Zahra El Idrissi in the 1500m (T13), Abdelilah Gani (F53) in the shot put and Azeddine Nouiri (Azeddine Nouiri (F34), while the bronze medals were won by Saida Amoudi in the shot put (F34), Aymane El Haddaoui in the 100m competition (T47), Ayoub Adouich (-63 kg/K44) and Rajae Akermach (+65 kg/K44) in para-taekwondo.
