Interviewed on the talk show set Today, The Swiss tennis legend has given his support to Sinner after the doping story.

24 hours after Rafael Nadal, Jannik Sinner found support from another legend of the little yellow ball. Invited onto the set of the American talk show Today, Roger Federer – 20 Grand Slam titles to his name – was questioned about the doping story concerning the Italian world number 1 and advocates the latter’s innocence.

«We are all convinced that Jannik did nothing, but the fact that he was not suspended (he was there for four days outside of competition) “While we weren’t 100% sure what was going on, that’s a question that needs to be answered. But that’s the way it is, and we have to trust the process, and we have to trust everyone involved in this,” he declared.

The Swiss, now 43, then put himself in the shoes of his 23-year-old counterpart and spoke of the anxiety caused by repeated tests: ““It’s every athlete’s and every team’s nightmare to have these kinds of allegations and these issues because we’re filling out forms all day long. Every morning you wake up and wonder if someone’s at the door testing you. So it’s very difficult.”
