a new update already available, what's new?

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth welcomed a brand new update to PlayStation 5 right on Christmas Day. Here's what she brings.

Failing to leave with its arms full of awards, FF7 Rebirth particularly stood out at the Game Awards with no less than 7 nominations. Square Enix took advantage of the aura of the event to announce the arrival of the game on PC at the beginning of next year. A port which occurs more quickly than usual, but which reflects the publisher's efforts to intensify multiplatform releases following disappointing financial results. In the meantime, the teams continue to follow up on the PS5 version. A new update has just been deployed.

A new update for FF7 Rebirth

It's a gift that players didn't expect. This December 25, 2024, Square Enix deployed a new patch for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. You see it coming from miles away, this new update remains quite anecdotal. No new content or significant changes, this update mainly focusing on the resolution of an admittedly minor problem, but which had been raised several times. Version 1.003 of FF7 Rebirth on PS5 therefore simply fixes vibration issues that did not work correctly with the DualSense. A bug which was not foreign to the developers, since the first episode of the trilogy suffered from this same problem, both on PS5 and PC.

In theory, this bug should be absent from the port scheduled for January 23, 2025. For the record, the PC version of FF7 Rebirth will include improved lighting, enriched textures and models, support for DLSS and VRR and much more. features reserved for PC users. Square Enix should still continue to monitor the PS5 version to correct some persistent bugs, but the Japanese publisher has announced the color. You shouldn't expect to see any new features or even DLCs. The teams preferred to put aside any additional content in order to focus on FF7 Remake 3 and release the end of the trilogy as quickly as possible. Sorry, you won't get any Queen's Blood DLC.
