what awaits you in Burgundy

The start of Christmas week should be hectic in Burgundy. This Monday, December 22, Météo- placed the Côte-d'Or on yellow alert for “snow and ice”. Heavy rainfall is expected to hit other Burgundy departments. However, some good news: the rest of the week should be sunnier.

The Christmas holidays begin in turbulent weather in Burgundy. This Sunday, December 22, Météo-France placed Yonne, Nièvre and Côte-d'Or on yellow alert for “vent” et “rain-flood.” According to amateur forecaster Météo Côte-d'Or, the showers could be “locally heavy and accompanied by a few flakes on the heights.”

For its part, Météo 89 announces showers that could reach 20 to 30 millimeters in 24 hours in the department. He also confirms the arrival of snowflakes on the Burgundian heights. “On the Morvan, a small layer of snow on the ground is possible by Sunday evening,” he explains in a post on social networks.

Wind gusts of up to 65 km/h in Pouilly-en-Auxois (Côte-d'Or) and 70 km/h in (Yonne) are expected to accompany this precipitation. Saône-et- has also been placed on yellow alert for “vent” by Météo-France. Gusts of the same power should also blow in the south of the department.

As for temperatures, they will be seasonal. The minimums should reach three degrees, and the maximums should not exceed ten degrees.

Monday should be synonymous with gray weather. Météo-France announces that showers will become increasingly rare. The Côte-d'Or will still be an exception. This will be the only department of Burgundy still placed on yellow alert for “snow-ice.”

A few snowflakes will therefore be expected on the Burgundian summits. “Showers will continue throughout the day with many cloudy periods,” specifies, moreover, Météo Côte-d’Or. And in terms of temperatures, they will still be very cool for the season: the minimums will be one degree, and the maximums should not exceed seven degrees.

The rest of the week should, however, be sunnier. Tuesday will still be gray, but it should be much calmer than the previous day. Then, Christmas will clearly be synonymous with the return of the sun. This is a rarity since, according to Météo-France records, has, for example, only benefited from 23 hours of sunshine since the beginning of December.

Temperatures should remain roughly similar to those of previous days. The minimums should drop to -1 or even -2 degrees at the end of the week. As for the maximums, they will not exceed 10 degrees.
