A rural village and a rich Provençal heritage

On June 11, 1909, an earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale completely destroyed the village of Vernègues. The ruins of the old castle and the old church are still visible today.

Several remarkable historical sites

The town will be rebuilt 90 meters lower. You can appreciate several remarkable historical sites, notably the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes church and the Naud washhouses, in the heart of the village.

To the west of the town, you can visit the remains of the Roman temple of Château-Bas, dating from the end of the 1st century BC. The temple has been classified as a historic monument since 1840.
