Marc Fesneau, president of the MoDem group in the Assembly, confirms that the composition of the government “will be announced before Christmas”

“François Bayrou will not survive the winter,” assures Jean-Luc Mélenchon, ready to censor him on January 16

“Rebellious” leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon declared Friday that “François Bayrou will not pass[it] not winter » in an interview with Parisianpromising a motion of censure from La insoumise (LFI) probably put to the vote by the National Assembly on January 16.

“The same causes will produce the same effects. There is no majority for the budget, so there will be a 49.3 and therefore censorship”assures Mr. Mélenchon, the day after a meeting of political forces in Matignon to which the “rebels” were not invited.

The head of LFI criticizes the choice of the centrist for the post of prime minister, whom he considers to be the“heir of a political bankruptcy, that of Mr. Barnier, who himself was the heir of a coup, that of Mr. Macron”.

He promises that the LFI group in the National Assembly will table a motion of censure on January 14, if François Bayrou does not seek the confidence of deputies following his general policy declaration. And predicts the fall of the government “probably January 16, forty-eight hours later”when this motion is put to the vote. Because, according to him, the other forces of the New Popular Front “are going to come home” after being “dismissed”.

He also brushes aside Mr. Bayrou's proposal to put pension reform back on the table, describing it as ” I like “ the proposal for a points system. “He wants to save time. It would cause the country to lose money with a new major social conflict”he says.

Supporter of the resignation of Emmanuel Macron, which the latter has always firmly rejected, Mr. Mélenchon once again assures Parisian what “only an early presidential election in 2025 will get the country out of the impasse”and is already planning a duel with Marine Le Pen in this hypothesis. “It will end between the RN and us”he says.
