this electric SUV priced at €13,000 will be released here

BYD strengthens its presence in Europe. The car manufacturer will release a new electric SUV here: the Atto 2, called Yuan Up in China and sold there at a price of 96,800 yuan or around 13,000 euros. But here, it will undoubtedly be more expensive given the various taxes put in place by Brussels.

  • The BYD Atto 2 arrives in Europe, the electric SUV is sold at a price of 96,800 yuan in China, or around 13,000 euros
  • In Europe, the price could be below 30,000 euros but BYD has not confirmed anything
  • The BYD Atto 2, real name Yuan Up in China, will be presented in early 2025

Clearly, nothing can stop BYD. While the car manufacturer posts record sales in November and French dealers wish to strengthen their collaboration with it, The Atto 2 is coming to us, in Europe. But what does this electric SUV offer?

The BYD Atto 2 is a 4.3 meter long compact crossover with two battery options: 42.1 kWh for 400 km of autonomy according to the Chinese cycle and 32 kWh, more modest. The electric SUV weighs 1,540 kg with the largest battery and has two powers, 95 or 176 horsepower.

But as for the price which will not be the same in Europe, the autonomy risks being revised downwards. For what ? Because the Chinese approval cycle is less strict than the WLTP standard. The range of around 300 km seems more realistic for the European market.

The BYD Atto 2 will first be produced in China and then possibly manufactured in the automaker's future factory in Hungary. Through this strategy, the automobile manufacturer will avoid customs fees recently increased to position itself on an equal footing with European manufacturers such as Renault with its electric R5.

What would the price of the BYD Atto 2 be in Europe?

The best argument for the BYD Atto 2 will be its price. Currently, its successor Atto 3 is at 29,990 euros after a discount until the end of 2024 on its initial price of 37,990 euros. We therefore expect that this electric SUV is below the 30,000 euro mark.

In China, BYD is targeting students with this electric SUV with excellent value for money. It remains to be seen how the automaker adjusts its strategy here. Especially since the Chinese firm has confirmed that in Europe, plug-in hybrids are the priority.

BYD is banking on the technologies embedded in this Atto 2just like the Sealion 7 available from us. In particular the equipment, comfort and design. The presentation of this electric SUV is expected for early 2025.
