A landslide occurred on Friday December 20, around 8:30 p.m., on the RD530 departmental road not far from Deux Alpes, in Isère. A rock fell off a cliff, crashing into a car traveling on this portion of the road between Clapier d'Auris and Venosc.
Three people were inside the vehicle. When emergency services arrived, they could only note the death of a 62-year-old man, a passenger in the car. The other occupants, two men aged 59 and 61, were slightly injured. They were transported to Grenoble-Alpes University Hospital.
The departmental road is currently closed “for an indefinite period”the time that the sMountain Terrain Restoration (RTM) service carries out an expertise. From Bourg-d'Oisans, access to the Venosc gondola, leading to the Deux Alpes station, is impossible according to Itinisère.
Partially closed for six months, the RD530 had reopened a week earlier to Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans after the torrential flood in the Vénéon valley which had notably devastated the hamlet of La Bérarde.
