• Cadillac will sell its Escalade IQ starting at $129,900 in the United States.
One of the next electric vehicles expected to hit North American roads is the battery-powered version of the Cadillac Escalade SUV. Simply called Escalade IQ, the product will be interesting to watch, because it represents the image of Cadillac, the old one, while it is asked to also carry that of tomorrow, focused on electrons.
The model is so important for the brand that Cadillac did not deign to change its name to align it with those of the manufacturer's other new electrical products, whose names all end with the letters IQ.
Unsurprisingly, the model will sit at the top of the hierarchy, with all the luxury and opulence that that implies. And with the bill, too, which will be steep. We are awaiting prices for the Canadian versions, but Cadillac has just given us an idea by disclosing those of the model for the American market.
We are close to $130,000
The Escalade IQ will start at US$129,900, which is more US$40,000 than the base price of the Gasoline version. Let's extrapolate a little. Here, the Escalade starts at CA$115,000. Adding, say, CA$50,000 to the bill, that would mean something around CA$165,000 for the electric variant.
The model will offer all the grandiloquence expected of a vehicle in this category. Its range is expected to be over 700 km, as it is with products of similar weight within the General Motors empire, such as the Chevrolet Silverado EV.
As for the versions announced, we are talking about Luxury 1 and 2 and Sport 1 and 2. A variant with an extended wheelbase will subsequently be offered. We can expect a similar, if not identical, price between the Luxury 1 and Sport 1 models. We have already seen Cadillac do this, with the Sport model offering the same equipment, but a different look.
Of course, we will avoid dwelling here on the details of the American versions, because differences could mark those which will be reserved for us, starting with the price range.
