Les Sables-d'Olonne is the municipality which has gained the most inhabitants in Vendée since 2016

This Thursday, December 19, 2024, INSEE published the population figures for municipalities recorded between 2016 and 2022.

It is these figures which will come into force and will be the official figures of the municipalities from 1^is January 2025.

For Vendée, 35,566 new inhabitants have joined the department since 2016. The population has therefore increased by 5.16%, allowing the department to peak at 725,062 residents.

What about the Agglomeration of Sables-d’Olonne?

Les Sables-d’Olonne: soon 50,000 inhabitants

Les Sables-d’Olonne records a progression of 11.36% of its population over the period 2016-2022, increasing from 44,736 to 49,991 inhabitants.

It is the municipality which records the most new citizens in the Vendée sector, with a average of 920 new inhabitants per year.

In the Sablaise conurbation, all municipalities are seeing their number of city dwellers increase.

If some exceed more than 20% of new citizens, others struggling to take off.

Municipalities with strong increases

• Sainte-Foy, a commune in the Sablais agglomeration, increased from 2,155 to 2,629 inhabitants in six years. A progression of 22 % of that population.
• The commune of Talmont-Saint-Hilaire gained 794 people between 2016 and 2022, going from 7,700 inhabitants to 8,494.
• In Vairé, 306 new people arrived between 2016 and 2022, allowing an increase of 16.9% in the population and today reaching 1,974 inhabitants.
• Saint-Julien-des-Landes has a population that has increased by 17.93% since 2016increasing from 1,735 to 2,046 citizens.
• Brem-sur-Mer is growing with 276 new residents in six years. An increase of 10.9%, allowing the municipality to go from 2,704 administered to 2,980.
• Saint-Georges-de-Pointindoux records a similar rate of increase with 11% new inhabitants between 2016 and 2022. The municipality goes from 1,666 to 1,849 citizens.
• The commune of Poiroux saw its population increase by 13.5% in six years, from 1,098 to 1,246 people.
• Girouard saw its population increase by 12.1% in six years, going from 1,038 to 1,164 inhabitants.
• Thanks to a increase in its population by 22.3%La Chapelle-Hermier exceeds 1,000 citizens on its territory, going from 895 to 1,095.
• In Landevieille, the population increased by 10.8%, with the number of inhabitants increasing from 1,397 to 1,548.
• Jard-sur-Mer saw its population increase from 2,679 to 3,083 inhabitants in six years, i.e. an 15% increase.

Municipalities with less than 10% increase

• In Achards, the progression is less with 9% more inhabitants compared to 2016. The municipality goes from 5,106 to 5,565 residents.
• Saint-Mathurin recorded a smaller increase with 8.9% increase in six years, going from 2,284 to 2,488 inhabitants in 2022.
• Martinet gains 125 citizens and increases by 6.6% between 2016 and 2022. The town now has 1,211 inhabitants compared to 1,136 previously.
• Small increase also for Sainte-Flaive-des-Loups which gains 168 inhabitants in six years, a profit of 7%, going from 2,404 administered to 2,572.
• Avrillé recorded a very slight increase with only 15 new inhabitants in six years, going from 1,409 to 1,426 people, an increase rate of 1.2%.
• The lowest increase in the number of inhabitants is for the commune of Saint-Hilaire-la-Forêt which only gains three new people since 2016bringing its total to 835 souls.
