A brawl broke out in front of the Rodin high school in Paris, causing the death of a 16-year-old teenager on Tuesday December 17. A minor of the same age was indicted and imprisoned.
“A relationship of animosity”
The 13th district of Paris was shaken by a terrible tragedy on Tuesday December 17. A 16-year-old minor was arrested for murder of a teenager of the same age, reports Le Figaro. He was indicted for murder and imprisoned.
According to the public prosecutor’s office Paristhe suspect, Stéphane S., born in February 2008 in Cameroon, was educated at Rodin high school. The public prosecutor revealed that he had previously been placed under judicial supervision on October 16, 2024, for acts of theft committed with violence in a meeting. “He and the victim, as well as other young people who have yet to be identified, clearly maintained a relationship of animosity punctuated by recourse to violence in different places in Paris“, specified this entity.
The facts
A brawl involving around ten individuals broke out in front of the Rodin high school. The 16-year-old minor collapsed at the corner of Corvisart and Paul Gervais streets after receiving stab wounds. Transported in critical condition to Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital, the teenager succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
Eight clashes since May
The floor of Paris opened an investigation into murder and aggravated violence. According to him, “this murder is a continuation of a phenomenon of recurring brawls between young people in the 13th arrondissement sector, where 8 clashes have been observed since May 2024“.
The victim, who attended a high school in Alfortville (Val-de-Marne), was already injured with a knife during a brawl that occurred on December 10 near the René Cassin high school, in the 16th arrondissement.
