War in Ukraine: when trains Ukrainian mine clearance divers

France has been training Ukrainian demining divers for two years now. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs authorized France 2 to follow one of the French trainers in Ukraine.

For two years, Jean-Yves Siffointe has been training Ukrainians. He was commissioned to help kyiv demine its rivers. Each time the munitions are spotted by underwater drones, the divers, trained by Jean-Yves Siffointe, spring into action. They must maneuver carefully to spot the explosives.

Underwater mine clearance, a complex skill that few countries have mastered, is new to Ukraine. For this, France has been helping Ukrainian deminers train in diving for two years. “French civil security demining has a unit of demining divers. It is this experience and this knowledge that we wanted to share, through the DCSD, in and in Ukraine as part of training specific”, reveals the French expert.

Once the projectile has been recovered, it is directed to a secure location, far from homes. The shell is then placed in a field to be destroyed remotely.
