The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion has unveiled the winning project for the 4th edition of its participatory budget. With nearly 400 votes, the Participatory community orchard proposed by Éric Jean was accepted. The voting period for the participatory budget ended on November 22 with the compilation of 962 votes.
Mr. Jean’s project aims to create a green space where citizens can cultivate and harvest fruit, promoting both biodiversity and social ties.
A sum of $65,000 will be reserved in the 2025 budget for its realization. This initiative is part of the aspiration “ Develop a harmonious and sustainable living environment » of strategic planning 2020 > 2025 Inhabited by my city.

He warmly congratulated the promoters of the other initiatives put to the vote, in particular the idea Batting cage — Cricketproposed by Jaryal Pankaj, the Cycling education park presented by Annie Bouthillier, as well as the Accessible Installation for fishing in all seasons, supported by Benoit Giguère. “ These initiatives demonstrate the remarkable commitment of our citizens to enrich our living environment. On behalf of the municipal council, I thank them for their creativity, their involvement and the diversity of ideas they bring to our community », added Mayor Pilon. The participatory budget is an initiative that allows citizens to familiarize themselves with the budgetary process. The citizen submits a project, the City carries it out. What follows is a great collaboration between the citizens and the services involved. This participatory budget initiative arises from the aspiration Encourage everyone’s participation in collective well-being of strategic planning 2020 > 2025 Inhabited by my city.
