Mufasa takes the throne of French box office starts

While Vaiana 2 has dominated the French box office for three weeks, a second Disney Christmas was released yesterday in . Unsurprisingly, Mufasa : The Roi Lion stands out among all the starts at the French box office this Wednesday, December 18, 2024, without however equaling (by far) the score of its predecessor released in 2019. We must put it into perspective because this blockbuster was released during the summer school holidays. The score of Mufasa is not shameful even if these first indications show that this sequel-prequel of Barry Jenkins will not shine as much as the first part of Jon Favreau.

Mufasa at the top of startups in France

Yesterday in , Mufasa : The Roi Lion attracted 1,743 spectators after the 2 p.m. screenings (26 theaters). In 24 hours, 142,674 spectators were seduced by the story of Mufasa yesterday in France (combination of 683 theaters). This is the 15th best start of the year in France behind Phew Love (143,726). For comparison, 630,478 people went to see The Lion King in 2019 (680 sites) during school holidays.

The scores of other similar titles for their first day in France:
