Marketing is regular with stable prices for good meat calves. The year ends with price levels significantly higher than a year ago with capital gains ranging from €80 for milkmen to more than €100 for crusaders. The shortage of goods and the increased need for export or for the placement of young cattle in workshops in France have raised prices.
Prices for good heavy prim’Holstein calves for export end the year between €180 and €200. The trend is to maintain prices for suitable 45/55 kg blacks sold between €120 and €180 as well as for light Montbéliards sold in Bourg-en-Bresse or Talaudière. Prices for heavy Montnéliards are maintained between €300 and €350 for export. For crossbreeds, the price range remains high even if it remains very wide depending on the quality. Standard dairy crosses are sold between €200 and €280 and prices rise between €300 and €330 for the best.
Good white blue or yellow cross males of U conformation weighing more than 65 kg are negotiated between 370 and 450 € rising up to 470 € for superiors. Prices remain contained between €200 and €350 for R-cross males depending on weight and type of cross. Good Limousin males are sought after for prices between €450 and €540 for U and €550 to €580 for senior ones.
