This announcement comes the day after a visit by British Defense Minister John Healey to Kyiv, during which he met his counterpart Roustem Oumerov and where he pledged to “intensify” the United Kingdom’s support for Ukraine in 2025.

Three years after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine, “the scale of his miscalculation is clearer than ever, as the courageous Ukrainian people continue to defy all odds with their indestructible energy,” said John Healey, quoted in the press release.

“But they cannot do it alone,” he added, insisting that the UK’s support for kyiv is “unwavering”.

This new package notably includes 92 million pounds to strengthen the Ukrainian navy with reconnaissance drones, unmanned surface ships, and drones to combat sea mines.

68 million pounds will be intended for air defense, with radars or anti-drone systems.

This package also includes ammunition for AS90 155mm self-propelled guns already supplied by the UK.

During his visit to Kyiv, John Healey also pledged to strengthen defense industrial cooperation, increase pressure and sanctions against Russia and continue the training of Ukrainian soldiers by the United Kingdom, which has already trained 51,000 Ukrainians on its soil since February 2022.

In an interview with The Times newspaper on Thursday, the minister did not rule out sending personnel to Ukraine to train more soldiers, saying that the United Kingdom must “adapt training to the needs of the Ukrainians”.

The minister and his counterpart Roustem Oumerov also “examined the results of the use of Storm Shadow missiles”, provided by London, the Ukrainian minister said in a press release, without giving further details.

In November, Kyiv obtained the green light from London to fire Storm Shadow missiles on Russian territory.

These announcements take place in a difficult context for Ukraine, which is losing ground, and at a time when its European allies are worried about the possibility of a suspension of American military aid to Ukraine and Donald’s promises. Trump to end the war “in 24 hours”.

In July, the Labor government pledged to mobilize 3 billion pounds (3.63 billion euros) per year by 2030-2031 in military support for Kyiv.
