We know that the Moon influences the tides, that it plays a role in hair growth… Why wouldn’t it also have an effect on plants? Or even on what we drink? This is the starting point of Head Bartender Romain de Courcy, at the Ritz Bar. The mixologist was inspired by the lunar calendar, this ancestral tool well known to gardeners (and the greatest biodynamic winegrowers) which connects plants, elements and constellations.
The lunar calendar, ancestral knowledge
Set on the phases of the Moon, themselves linked to the positions of the constellations of the Zodiac in the sky, this calendar specifies, day after day, which type of plant to take care of as a priority. And counts the weeks in “flower” days (when the Moon passes in front of the constellations of Libra, Gemini or Aquarius). In “root” days (when the star passes in front of the constellations of Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn). But also in “leaf” days, when the permanent natural satellite of planet Earth passes in front of the constellations of Scorpio, Pisces or Cancer. And finally in “fruit” days: when the Moon is in line with the constellations of Aries, Leo or even Sagittarius.
