the price of stamps and parcels will increase in 2025

From January 1, 2025, sending a letter or parcel via La Poste will cost more. The public company announced an average increase of 6.8% in its prices. This increase mainly concerns stamps and postage services, a decision justified by inflation and the continued decline in the volume of mail sent.

An increase of 8% for the Green Letter and 5% on average for parcels

The Green Letter, the option most used by individuals for non-urgent shipments, will see its price increase from 1.29 euros to 1.39 euros, an increase of almost 8%. The registered letter (20 g) will also increase, from 5.36 to 5.74 euros. International mail will not be spared, with a price increasing from 1.96 to 2.10 euros. However, certain options remain stable, such as mail tracking at 50 cents or the dematerialized red e-letter at 1.49 euros. Concerning parcels, Colissimo prices will increase on average by 5.2%, whether for shipments in or abroad. To save a few cents, consumers can choose the MonTimbrenLigne service, which allows stamps to be printed at home at a slightly reduced price. For example, the Green Letter will cost 1.35 euros via this service, compared to 1.39 euros at the counter. La Poste assures that this increase is necessary to maintain a quality postal service in a tense economic context. On average, a French household now spends 29 euros per year on postal expenses, a budget which is expected to continue to decrease due to the drop in mail volumes.
