Gruissan: 78th bench Naelou at the captaincy: “A timeless guest book”

An initiative intended to transform urban space into a place of sharing, where messages of solidarity can be left by those who take a break there after a walk.

After the inauguration of the Waves Alarm stele, elected officials and representatives of associations went to the harbor master’s office to inaugurate a bench.

But not just any bench: it’s a Naelou bench by the artist Kamel Sacraoui who explained his work: “it’s a bench where citizens, students can leave fraternal messages, this one is the 78th, it’s a timeless guest book made to last in public space. It made me happy to “have some here especially on this subject concerning migrants”.

Marie-Lou Lajus, deputy mayor responsible for culture, heritage and personnel, spoke : “I am very happy to see you around the bench, an important space in our project to pay tribute to migrants missing at sea, it is a place of meditation, listening and contemplation from here we see the stele, the entrance to the port and you can immerse yourself in the words of young people and children written during workshops”. She renewed her greetings to the associations LDH, SOS Méditerranée, Cimade, migrant reception collective. The mayor of Didier Codorniou, elected officials and representatives of associations discovered the bench, two young girls read the text engraved in iron that passers-by can come and read on the bench located in front of the captain’s office.
