Volodymyr Zelensky met the leaders of European powers in Brussels, notably Emmanuel Macron.

The Élysée returned to this interview in a press release published this Wednesday evening. “will continue to give Ukraine the means to defend itself and defeat the war of aggression led by Russia for almost three years”specifies the text.

The Ukrainian president also spoke with the NATO Secretary General. Mark Rutte said he wanted to discuss ways to put Ukraine in a strong position for possible peace talks with Russia

“The top priority is to ensure that the president and his country, Ukraine, are in the best possible position when they decide to begin peace talks. And that means we must do everything possible in our power to make sure that when it comes to our defense, when it comes to other weapons systems, we make sure that we provide everything that we can.”he said.

For his part, Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the need for a united European position and insisted on the priority of obtaining more air defense systems.

“I have arrived in Brussels for important negotiations with our European partners. Europe needs a strong, united position to ensure lasting peace. Every fundamental issue impacting Europe – and the end of Russia’s war against Ukraine is undoubtedly one of them – requires coordinated and effective work by European nations”he wrote, in a message posted on the social network

This visit is part of a series of meetings with different leaders, to ensure their support, before the arrival of Donald Trump at the White House, January 20, 2025.
