Kylian Mbappé won his second title with Real Madrid, thanks to a victory against Pachuca (3-0) in the final of the Intercontinental Cup this Wednesday. The match took place in Doha, at the Lusail Stadium, two years to the day after the World Cup final between France and Argentina in the same venue.
Real Madrid quietly won this Wednesday evening in the final of the Intercontinental Cup, in Doha, Qatar, against Pachuca (3-0). This success therefore allows Carlo Ancelotti to win his 15th title with Real Madrid, and thus become the most successful coach in the history of the Madrid club.
This success also allows Kylian Mbappé to win his second trophy with his new club, a few months after the European Super Cup, won against Atalanta Bergamo. As in the Supercup final, Kylian Mbappé also scored against Pachuca this Wednesday. Ideally served after sumptuous work from Vinicius, the Frenchman scored his 13th goal in 23 games for the Madrid club this season.
Small consolation for Kylian Mbappé at Lusail Stadium
As a symbol for the Frenchman since it was in this same stadium, in Doha, that he scored a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final against Argentina. Unfortunately, the Albiceleste won on penalties. This time, Kylian Mbappé leaves Doha with a new trophy in his collection. Something he did not fail to notify on Instagram during his last publication: “The Intercontinental Cup is back in Madrid. Second title of the season. This time, I won at Lusail Stadium.”
A fun way to look back on this final, two years to the day, after France’s defeat against Argentina. Before the holiday break, Real Madrid will host Sevilla this Sunday in La Liga. Kylian Mbappé will be able to try to win a third trophy with Real Madrid next January. Indeed, on January 9, Real Madrid will face Mallorca in the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
