Disturbing images on Google Street View showing a person appearing to load a body bag into the back of a car have given Spanish authorities a “decisive” clue into the disappearance of a man.
This case concerns a Cuban man, reported missing a year ago in the municipality of Tajueco, located in north-central Spain. The police investigated this case for more than a year.
The footage, captured by a Google Maps car, shows an individual leaning over a human-shaped package in the trunk of a red car, potentially offering a significant breakthrough to investigators. Other images show a man pushing a wheelbarrow with a large white package down a quiet street in this Spanish town.
Spanish authorities said the photographs were a “decisive” clue as detectives opened a murder investigation and arrested two people in connection with the man’s death.
These images, which made the rounds on social networks, also allowed investigators to find the body of the man, identified only by the initials JLPO, aged 33.
Police discovered the victim’s dismembered remains, including his torso, buried in the Andaluz cemetery, just a twelve-minute drive from where the image was taken, according to Spanish media.
The two people arrested are apparently the victim’s wife and a Tajueco bar employee. Investigators discovered that the couple lived together, as reported by Todo Alicante.
According to El Pais, the police are still looking into the matter and it appears that no charges have been filed so far in court.
“My God, what’s happening in the villages,” a cemetery employee told El Pais after seeing the Google Maps images.
