Prized for its white sand beaches and pleasant climate all year round, the island of Saint Andrew in Colombia is making a comeback among the destinations offered by direct flight from Montreal.
Sunwing Airlines offers a seasonal direct flight once a week, every Friday, from December 13 to April 4. Departure is scheduled for 9 a.m., for a flight of approximately 5:25 hours.
On December 13, the team of Vacances Sunwing went to the international airport Montreal-Trudeau to celebrate the inaugural flight of Sunwing Airlines towards theSan Andres airport (ADZ).
The guests were welcomed with coffee, chocolatines and croissants. Speeches preceded the traditional ribbon cutting.
The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Lyne Chayervice-president of Sunwing Vacation Groupof Marie-Josée Carrièresenior director of marketing at Sunwing Vacations Group, and Carl BrochVice-President Air Operations and Development at ADM Montreal Airports.
15 educotour advisors
“For this special flight, we also invited 15 travel agents on an educotour. They were entitled to a complete experience, since upon landing, they attended the watering ceremony carried out by the firefighters before joining the terminal,” relates Lyne Chayer in an interview with PAX.
“They also took advantage of a great itinerary, including overnight stays in two hotels Decameron different, while visiting other establishments. In addition, they participated in two days of excursions to discover the activities that can be offered to their clients. Since their departure, the comments have been excellent! » she adds.
In San Andrés, Sunwing Vacations recalls offering six hotel complexes from the Decameron chain, always popular with travelers, as well as a new one: the Grand Sirenis San Andrés.
“I found the island as it was back then, but better! »
Lyne Chayer shares her enthusiasm for the island she visited last April.
“I went to San Andrés in April, after about 25 years without going back! I found the island as it was back then, but better! There has been great growth: the Decameron hotels have been refreshed, the Grand Sirenis has been built, and many shops, restaurants and bars have emerged. They even created a little boardwalk! »
Lyne Chayer emphasizes that she particularly appreciates the unique atmosphere of the island which, according to her, evokes both Colombia and Jamaica, with a strong influence of reggae and locals who are always in a good mood.
“It is also a fantastic destination for divers, with magnificent beaches, comparable to those of Varadero. All beaches are public, but Decameron hotels have a private beach club and guests can take a bus there to enjoy the beach and a restaurant with food and drinks included. »
“As for the Grand Sirenis, it is located just 4 minutes on foot from one of the most beautiful beaches on the island,” continues Ms. Chayer. San Andrés is a very safe destination: visitors can get around easily by golf cart, taxi or bus, and fully enjoy their stay. »
The vice-president of the Sunwing Vacation Group already considers it very likely that the YUL-ADZ route will be renewed next year.
“Sales are doing very well. When I look at the traffic rate, I see great success. I don’t see why the flight wouldn’t be offered again next year,” she concludes.
