Exo: fire disrupts service for two train lines

Delays and cancellations are expected for users of the exo Mascouche and Mont-Saint-Hilaire lines on Wednesday due to a fire which caused a signaling problem.

“The fire last night of a maintenance truck belonging to the owner of the track, following a hydraulic problem, damaged the signaling wires in the Central station area,” we can read on the site Exo web.

This has caused disruptions to the service for an indefinite period. The transit agency said the problem won’t be resolved by the end of the day, at least.

Users should also expect delays, as operators have had to follow “more restrictive regulations” and “maneuver several switches by hand”, which slows down train movements.

Exo did not specify the minutes of delay for the two lines.

Here’s what you need to know for your return home.

Line 15 – Mascouche

Three trains will be affected for the rush hour:

  • Train 1207 from 4:08 p.m.
  • Train 1209 from 4:33 p.m.
  • Train 1211 from 5:25 p.m.

All these trains were to leave at their respective times from Central Station. However, their trips will be canceled from the station only, according to Exo. All of its other stops, from Ahuntsic to Mascouche, are still planned.

The organization recommends that public transit users use the Montreal metro and go to Sauvé station, on the orange line, to access Ahuntsic station.

Here are the new departure times, from Sauvé station:

  • 1207: at 5:00 p.m.
  • 1209: at 5:30 p.m.
  • 1211: at 6:17 p.m.
Line 13 – Mont-Saint-Hilaire

The 1:45 p.m. train, which leaves from Mont-Saint-Hilaire station, will run as planned to Saint-Lambert station, where users will have to leave the premises. They will have to use local transport services, Exo said.

Exo has not yet provided additional information regarding other trains.
