The measure was adopted during the municipal council meeting on Tuesday, December 17. From January 1, 2025, the calculation of water charges will be modified and this should allow Millavois residents to make small savings on their water bills.
If the fee for withdrawal from water resources is maintained, the fees for domestic water pollution and modernization of collection networks are replaced.
On the one hand, with a “drinking water consumption” fee, invoiced to the subscriber by the public drinking water service based on a price set by the Adour Garonne water agency. On the other hand with two additional fees, one relating to the performance of “drinking water networks” and another corresponding to the efficiency of “collective sanitation systems”.
These two new fees are collected from communities and not billed directly to the user. They are adjustable according to the state of the networks and the quality of the treatment systems, in order to encourage communities to invest in their drinking water management infrastructure.
Work to replace drinking water networks (reservoirs, main pipes and connections) and separate rainwater and black water undertaken by the City of Millau (in 2024, avenue de l’Ayrolle and reservoir of the quarries and in 2025, bottom of Avenue de la République) will improve the performance coefficient of public facilities and thus save the taxpayer a few euros.
For example, if on January 1, 2024, the Water Pollution and Modernization Agency fees for a typical 120 m3 invoice amounted to €69.6 excluding tax, on January 1, 2025, the three new Water Pollution and Modernization Agency fees water replacing the previous ones will amount to €60.36 excluding tax for 120 m3, a reduction of €9.24 Excl. tax.
