The U food brand will replace Bi1 in 2025, what changes are expected for residents?
In 2025, change is expected at the level of distribution brands in Dompierre-sur-Besbre, in fact the Schiever family group, which has 13 brands: Auchan, Bi1, Maximarché, Proximarché, Weldom, Bricoman, Holi, Schiever Déco, l’Atelier, Kiabi, Intersport, Intersport Outlet and Blackstore, leaves Auchan and announced the signing of an agreement with the cooperative of independent traders Système U.
What will change for the municipality
The Bi1 brand located on the outskirts of the town in the direction of Moulins will therefore become a U brand. The Schiever group plans to switch the group’s hypermarkets to the U brand from January 2025, this will be done through Auchan stores then gradually through Bi1 stores, like the one in Dompierre-sur-Besbre. Before the actual change, U products will begin to arrive on the shelves. If this will not change much for regulars of the Bi1 store, apart from new habits of brands and products we can wonder about the future of the U store in the town.
And the U store in the village
Will there be a duplicate with two U stores, will another brand take over? Current director Guy Chargros tells us he doesn’t know any more ” there are a lot of questions, the only certainty is that I have exercised my retirement rights, for the rest, we will know more at the start of the year, while waiting for the only super U of Dompierre and even the whole department is located at Place du Commerce in Dompierre, things will happen but for the moment nothing has been written”. Contacted, Mayor Michel Brunner is vigilant “I took the lead by sending letters, so that food remains in the city center for the elderly and to revitalize the center, the surface area is beautiful, the parking is practical, it should be of interest.”
Shared values
Dominique Schelcher, CEO Système U believes that “the joining of the Schiever group to Cooperative U is first and foremost the result of a meeting around shared values. We came together around a long-term vision of local commerce anchored in the territories and with a human face. Vincent Picq, president of Shiever, appreciated the democratic and transparent functioning of our cooperative. For the U system teams, this membership represents a formidable integration and common development project for the years to come”.
