On Euronext, rapeseed prices experienced a wide range of variation and finally closed in decline, explains Argus Media in its daily letter. Thus, on Tuesday December 17, 2024, on Euronext a tonne of rapeseed closed at €537.50 (-€4.25 compared to the previous closing) on the February deadline and ended at €518.50 (-6 €) on that of May.

Operators are still following with great interest the development of river traffic on the Moselle, impacted by navigation problems. “The implementation of a troubleshooting solution deployed in Germany allows a resumption of activity despite the damaged lock. The traffic rate is currently expected to be much lower than normal due to the necessary passage time,” informs Argus Media.
Soybean decline
On the American side, soybean prices on the Chicago Stock Exchange are continuing the downward trend that began last week. “Close expiries show new lows for contracts processed during the session. The decline phase, however, allows buyers of soybeans to position themselves, like the new exceptional sales with 187,000 tonnes sold to Spain and 132,000 tonnes to an unspecified destination. The downward acceleration is justified by a clear drop in soybean oil prices and above all by conditions in Brazil that are satisfactory for crop development,” according to Argus Media.
Rapeseed areas are progressing little

The latest production estimates for spring crops confirm a “situation of decline in the 2024 sunflower harvest, a crop penalized by the drop in surface area and above all a sharp drop in yield”, reports Argus Media. It is thus announced at 1.53 million tonnes.
