Canal+ celebrates the end of the year by increasing the price of its subscriptions

At the end of the 40th anniversary celebrations of the encrypted channel, Canal+ announces an increase in the subscription price, from January 14, 2025.

An announcement all the more surprising since, from the start of next year, Disney+ and PassPresse, the service allowing you to consult journals and magazines at no extra cost, will disappear from Canal+ offers.

All offers on the rise

Customers of “the fourth channel” are being made aware of an imminent increase in the price of their subscription, reports an informant on monthly.

In detail, here is what the pricing of the different Canal+ offers will look like on January 14, 2025:

  • Canal+ live/replay : 29,99 €/mois
  • Canal+ (-26 years): €15.99/month
  • Canal+ Ciné Series: €41.99/month
  • Canal+ Ciné Series (-26 years): €21.99/month
  • Canal+ Sport: €47.99/month
  • Canal+ Sport (-26 years): €24.99/month
  • Canal+ Friends & Family : 81,99 €/mois

In its message, Canal+ nevertheless specifies that all promotional offers that its customers could have benefited from obviously remain active despite this price increase. Remember that most of the channel’s offers are subject to a commitment.

The sense of timing

Canal+, which celebrated its 40th birthday last month and for the occasion invited people to subscribe to its most expensive offer at an advantageous rate, suddenly takes off its party hat. A few days before the end of the year, and while one of the most popular services on the platform, Disney+, will soon no longer be part of its formulas, the timing could not be worse.

Concretely, the channel is preparing to ask its subscribers to pay more to access less content. A few days after the half-hearted announcement of a bundle offer with Apple , it’s a stain.

While IPTV subscriptions have never been so popular in (especially for following sports matches) and Internet service providers like Free are strengthening their offers to include SVOD subscriptions, this decision by Canal+ could be particularly bad received by its customers.
