Fourteen matches, fourteen victories! This is the balance sheet of Taurean Prince in the NBA Cup. Winner in 2023 with the Lakers, the Bucks winger therefore achieves the double, this time with the Bucks, and he has still not lost a single match in this competition. A record and a track record that he shares with Darvin Ham, former “head coach” of the Lakers, now assistant to Doc Rivers.
For Taurean Prince, there is therefore a second check for $500,000 at the end. For a player, like him, who receives the minimum salary, this is not negligible, and he therefore recovered a million dollars in two editions.
“I’m going to spend this money the right way. I’m not going to waste this money.” he responded, before mentioning the importance of such a sum for some of his teammates. “When you look at the bench, with contracts that are getting lower and lower, you want to play for them. This is a real sum which will allow some people to buy a first house for their family or their mother, or to afford the car they were targeting. It’s important, and it’s more important than just us.”
A Bucks starter, Taurean Prince only thinks of his young teammates, like Ryan Rollins or even Andre Jackson Jr, for whom this sum of $500,000 represents between 25% and 80% of their annual salary! “We had all this in mind. Everyone knew what was at stake and what can be achieved with that amount of money for some people, so we’re just trying to enjoy the moment.” he concludes like a Prince.
