Suspect dead

Genetic analyzes carried out urgently by the Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie (IRCGN) confirmed that it was indeed the body of the teenager. An autopsy, carried out by the IRCGN, was to determine the causes of death and whether or not Lina had been the victim of sexual assault.

Lina had disappeared when she left her home to walk to the Saint-Blaise-la-Roche station (Bas-Rhin), approximately three kilometers away. She had to take the train to meet her boyfriend in Strasbourg. After months of careful research, investigators managed to identify a vehicle, a Ford Puma, which was at the scene at the time of the disappearance.

Active searches have been carried out since the summer on the traces of this car, driven by the main suspect, Samuel Gonin. He, aged 43, will never be able to answer the many questions that remain unanswered: he committed suicide on July 10 at his home in Besançon. He was never interviewed by investigators in this case.
