During the municipal council meeting of December 16 and 17, the Métropole de Lyon deliberated a subsidy for the Givors 2 Vallées commercial zone. A step forward in the project aimed at developing the site.
Largely impacted by the floods of October 17, the Givors Vallée 2 Vallées commercial area should evolve, in order to better respond to problems linked to flood risks. Placed in red zoning in the Gier flood prevention plan for foreseeable natural risks, the commercial zone representing a third of the municipality’s jobs will be modernized and transformed within a few years.
“The century-old Cévennes episode showed that it was urgent to transform this sector to make it resilient to extreme floods. It is an issue of protecting populations, whether the people who work in Givors” says Bruno Bernard, president of the Metropolis.
First progress
During the metropolitan council held on December 16 and 17, the Metropolis of Lyon deliberated a grant from the Territorial Cohesion agency to undertake studies and engineering. The engineering mobilized will make it possible to assess a development scenario and to employ all public stakeholders and partners in this ambitious renovation project.
“We know that this transformation will take a long time, so it is essential that a decision be taken as soon as possible to begin this work”says Bruno Bernard, President of the Lyon Metropolis.
In order to implement this project, the Metropolis of Lyon obtained aid of 75,000 euros from the Territorial Cohesion Agency.
