This Sunday, a violent fire broke out in a building on rue Carnet in the Netreville district of Evreux (Eure). Around twenty people were urgently evacuated. The firefighters also deployed their large ladder to rescue some of them, report our colleagues from France Bleu.
While all the inhabitants had fallen into the arms of Morpheus, they were awakened by the first smells of smoke around one o’clock in the morning. A first floor apartment was on fire. The flames quickly engulfed the second and third floors. The stairwell had become impassable.
The large scale deployed
When they arrived, the firefighters found that it was too late to evacuate the residents through the common areas. The large ladder was installed to reach the top floors of the building and the fire was eventually brought under control. The damage was significant, particularly in the apartment at the origin of the disaster, which was completely destroyed.
In total, 21 people were extracted from the blaze, the causes of which remain, for the moment, undetermined. Nine of them had to be hospitalized for minor injuries. The others were taken care of by the city’s elected officials, the social landlord and insurers. Rehousing solutions are currently being studied.
