Namely that the suspect has “was first heard as a witness (…) those close to Inès having succeeded in identifying her contacts on Snapchat”. He first denied, before admitting being involved in the death of Inès”. Taken into custody, “He said he spoke with Inès on the bus on several occasions, and that hechanged with her on social networks in the week preceding death.

They had agreed to meet again the day Inès died. He, had the intention of him “steal his cell phone”. She thought he was coming “give her a gift from a friend”.

When the suspect led the police to the girl’s body, in some undergrowth, they found a kitchen knife, on site. This is what the young man would have used, first to intimidate Inès, in order to take her phone. Unfortunately, she would have “debated, and managed to call his sister”.

At that time, “stricken in panic”, he would have “stabbed several times for fear that his cries would raise the alarm.” We are talking about at least 40 shots.

What does the suspect risk?

Indeed, Inès’ body presented a “forty wounds, notably on the neck, under the left breast and on the back and some were deep, but also numerous defensive wounds”. The suspect claims he then “ran away and got rid of the phone“.

Currently in pre-trial detention, he faces the juvenile court up to twenty years of criminal imprisonment. For an adult, the Penal Code provides life imprisonmentfor similar facts.
