The search carried out at the home of the main suspect in Ghyvelde () revealed an impressive collection of firearms owned by Paul D., the young man behind the quintuple murder which occurred on Saturday December 14 in the vicinity of Dunkirk (Pas- de-).

Twelve shotguns some of whom are equipped with glasses, 5,000 cartridges of caliber 12 and 44 were found by the gendarmes at the suspect’s home, a red brick house that he shared with his parents and his younger brother, revealed The Parisian. A loot to which are added the five other firearms as well as the 300 cartridges seized from his vehiclea Citroën Berlingo, on board which the young man registered for more than a year in a sports shooting club presented himself to the Ghyvelde gendarmerie to accuse himself of having committed this quintuple homicide during the preceding hours .

The multiple munitions found by investigators during this search correspond to findings made at the three crime scenes.

Licensed for more than a year from a shooting club

The first victim, who was the head of the transport company which had hired Paul D without extending his fixed-term contract, was hit by five projectiles and a salvo of lead. At the crime scene, cases and cartridges of caliber 12 and 44 were found. These same munitions were seen at the second crime scene at Loon Plage, where the two security agents working on behalf of the ECS company within which Paul D. had undergone professional training, were hit by several bullets, some of which were shot in the head.
Finally, these munitions were also found 3 km from this scene, where the police discovered the bodies of two migrants, also riddled with bullets of the same caliber.

Limit authorized to category C weapons

Questioned by our colleagues from Parisianthe president of the La Jean-Bart sports shooting club, Réné Jossien confirmed that Paul D was indeed among their licensees. “He took a license from us after summer 2023 and renewed his license in September 2024 […] Paul D. was an ordinary sports shooter. He was not registered in competition and could train on the shooting ranges at 25 m and 50 m.”he testifies. Described as a character “very introverted and discreet”Paul D. had followed “a period of initiation of several months with the pellet rifle at ten meters like all new practitioners, before being admitted to shoot at longer distancessays René Jossien. As he did not have an authorization to carry a weapon, he had to limit himself within our club to category C weapons.

The weapons found belong to categories A and B and are subject to authorization, which Paul D did not have, underlined the Dunkirk public prosecutor’s office, which should rule this Tuesday afternoon on the indictment and the very probable placement in pre-trial detention of Paul D.
