The victim, named Philippine and aged 19, was a student at the University of Paris-Dauphine. His body was found on September 21, buried in the woods, during a search organized by the police.

An investigation into intentional homicide was opened and entrusted to the criminal brigade of the Paris judicial police.

According to a police source, witnesses reported seeing a man with a pickaxe in the area.

According to BFMTV, the suspect arrived in France from Spain when he was 17 years old. Subsequently, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison for the rape of a 23-year-old student in 2019 in Val-d’Oise. On September 3, he was released with a view to his deportation to Morocco. He never reported to the authorities. The day before the murder, a wanted notice had been issued against him for not having respected “his reporting obligation.” French investigators reportedly tracked him down using the geolocation of his cell phone.
