Marseille investigators working on a double murder committed in the Marseille city at the end of 2023 carried out a major raid, Monday October 14, within the DZ Mafia.
Ten people were arrested in Bouches-du-Rhône, and placed in police custody, as part of the investigation into a double homicide committed in November 2023 in Marseille, our colleagues from Le Parisien revealed this Wednesday, October 16.
Control over deal points
The suspects are part of the DZ Mafia, an infamous cartel which controls numerous deal points in Marseille. This organization, suspected of regularly orchestrating score-settling, now has members in Avignon, Dijon, Toulouse, Valence and even Rennes.
As Le Parisien reveals, among those in police custody are the suspected hitmen but also suspected drivers and logisticians. The investigations are taking place within the framework of a judicial investigation opened for “assassinations” and “attempted assassinations by an organized gang” and “criminal association”.
Two dead and three injured
On November 11, 2023, around 11 p.m., Kalashnikov shots rang out in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in the 16th arrondissement of Marseille. Results of this umpteenth shooting: two dead, a man and a woman aged around twenty, and three injured. “The profile of the individuals allows us to place ourselves in the context of narchomicides, in any case attempted assassinations by an organized gang with perhaps a very strong link with drug trafficking,” said at a press conference the prosecutor Nicolas Bessone.
