40 years to the day after the assassination of little Grégory, the prosecutor takes stock of the case

Forty years, to the day, have passed since the murder that shocked the whole of : that of little Grégory Villemin, found bound hand and foot in the Vologne river, just a few hours after his disappearance in his garden, on the 16th. October 1984. For four decades now, this tragic affair has become one of the biggest and most mysterious news stories that the country has known. Still unsolved, the murder of the four-year-old boy continues to haunt the Vosges police, who have never stopped looking for the culprit(s). This Tuesday, October 15, 2024, on the eve of the sad anniversary of Grégory’s death, the prosecutor general at the Court of Appeal spoke on RTL about the current state of the investigation . If “there is no longer a cell, that is to say a group of investigators who work full time on it”, the investigations continue regardless as soon as a new element presents itself. “They respond on a case-by-case basis depending on the requests of the investigating magistrate for this or that act,” explains Philippe Astruc.

“We are all pretty much aware that there is not a single author,” says the new attorney general, appointed last September. Indeed, “the materiality of the facts, the day of the events, suggests that there is a plurality of authors”.
