It was in the middle of the night that residents were surprised in their sleep by the breakage of a ceiling beam on the ground floor of a three-story building. The disaster occurred around 3 a.m. on the night of Tuesday October 15 to Wednesday October 16, firefighters from the Vaucluse departmental fire and rescue service told France 3 Provence-Alpes.
The building, located rue de la Grande Fusterie in the inner city center of the city of the Popes, not far from the banks of the Rhône, was completely evacuated as were the adjoining buildings. There were no injuries, specifies Sdis 84. Eight people were evacuated and relocated.
Sixteen firefighters were deployed on site, with six engines. At 7 a.m., specialist rescue and clearance teams were still present on the scene. The reasons for the incident are not known at this time.
