, Franco-Belgian capital for a day: King Philippe and Queen Mathilde visiting this Wednesday

This hasn’t happened in 21 years! The King and Queen of the Belgians will be in this Wednesday. This trip is the last of their state visit to , a 3-day visit which began Monday in . The opportunity, of course, to celebrate Franco-Belgian friendship, since we share a border, just a few dozen kilometers from Lille. The visit is on the theme of new technologies and working-class neighborhoodsa theme chosen by King Philippe himself.

Lunch at the opera and visit to EuraTechnologies

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde arrive at 1:30 p.m. this Wednesday in Lille. They will go to the Opera via rue Faidherbe. This was cordoned off for the occasion and lined with Belgian and French flags. A big lunch awaits them at the Opera: 100 people have been invited. Among them, Martine Aubry, mayor of Lille, who should be accompanied by Xavier Bertrand, president of the Hauts de France region.

Their majesties will then visit EuraTechnologieswhich is one of the largest startup incubators in Europe. From the terrace, they will admire the Blancs district, a former industrial wasteland that has become an eco-district. A meeting with two startups is planned for 4 p.m. The program is dense since at 5 p.m., the king and queen will be at the Northern prefecture, for a time of exchange with the Belgian press. It is Martine Aubry who will address the French press.

The day will end with a military ceremony at Place de la République. This is actually a farewell ceremony, which is part of royal protocol. We will hear the two anthems there. : Marseillaise for Franc and Brabançonne for Belgium.
